Elaine Young (Thomson) has a Master’s degree in English and lectured in the English Department at the former University of Natal (later KwaZulu-Natal) for nine years before embarking on a freelance writing and editing career in 2006.

Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster is a very successful young businesswoman. She is Executive Manager of Ayano Communications, a Durban-based company she founded.
Ayano Communications provides marketing and communication strategy development, enterprise development, marketing and PR services. In recognition of her success she has received a number of awards. These include winning a Department of Economic Development and Tourism uMyezane Award and, at the Regional Businesswomen’s Association won the Emerging Entrepreneur award in 2009.
Nobunto is also a board member of the Generation Vuka Youth Project. She is regional chairperson of the KZN Youth Chamber and on the SMME Committee of the Durban Chamber of Commerce as well as the BWASA Durban Committee.
Nobunto matriculated from Northlands in 2000. She obtained a National Diploma in Marketing, and later a Bachelor of Business Administration degree through the Institute of Marketing Management. She also has a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Trade Management. | | | | | Louise Campion Matric year: 1997
Louise graduated with a BA Music degree (summa cum laude) from UKZN in 2008 and went on to do her BA Honours in music performance and music research in 2009.
During her undergrad years she received the Samro undergrad scholarship for music as well as the Golden Key Scholarship for the Howard College Campus of UKZN, plus various other scholarships and bursaries from UKZN.
Louise taught music in a part time capacity (2006 until March 2011) to the Foundation Phase pupils at Maris Stella while she was studying, and continued to do so once her studies were completed.
She has travelled quite a bit since leaving school in order to sing and play piano at various conferences, events and churches (UK, Canada, USA, Australia, Zimbabwe, Zambia) and have also done some leisure travel (France, Italy, Germany).
During the last 5 years Louise was in a Christian band called Hilton Greig, and they had the privilege of opening for 2 Grammy and Dove Award winning Christian Artists, namely Casting Crowns (Cape Town) and Michael W. Smith (Durban), when they toured South Africa, as well as many other artists.
Since leaving school Louise has sung and played piano on many people's albums, TV, adverts, and various other events and shows, and she intends to record her own CD at some point when time allows. She will be relocating to the UK on 31 March 2011 for at least a year and is looking forward to the new opportunities that awaits her there. | | | | | Kate McIntyre Matric year: 2002
After graduating as a geologist (BSc Hons) from UKZN with a full bursary from Anglo American, I worked for four years in Limpopo Province as the first woman in South Africa to undertake exploration for coalbed methane deposits.
I have recently transferred within Anglo American to sustainable development, and manage the greenhouse gas emissions for the coal operations in South Africa. | | | | |
